The game we now know as chess, most scholars agree, probably orginated in India about 1400 years ago, 600 A.D. There have been many different names, different pieces, with different moving cababilities and rules since the game was first played. In the same century that Leonardo Da Vinci, Christopher Columbus, King Heny VIII, Michelangelo, Sir Francis Bacon, Nostradamus and many other amazing people lived, Ruy Lopez of Spain began to promote a "new" way of playing chess. This became what we now know as "Traditional Chess". The game we play today. That was 1561. There have been many different variations proposed and played since then, but none have ever become bigger than "Traditional Chess". Perhaps until now. "Archers Chess"© was conceived, invented, copyrighted and trademarked in the spring and summer of 2001, the first year of the new millenium by Michael William Archer, who founded Archers Chess© Limited in London, Ontario, Canada in 2002.
